I kick ass...in the kitchen!1!1!!!1!oens

I haven't updated this in ages, primarily because I've been up to my eyelids in academia. Stupid Anatomy & Physiology eating my soul. I've been trying to save money lately and one step of it is cooking my own meals and watching way t0o many episodes of 5 ingredient fix on the food network.

Don't judge me.

Here's some of the concoctions of what I've created in the kitchen.

Chopped carrots, bacon wrapped chicken pieces and cheesy breaded pieces + jones soda

It tasted pretty good, however rather then the cheesy things your best bet would be to replace them with a small baked potato or something because the greasy cheese is overwelming because after I had to eat bacon wrapped chicken pieces (baked, not pan fried is best and a tad healthier). This dish tasted AMAZING with the Jones soda though. It kicks rootbeer out of the pond.

This second dish is freakishly easy and cheap to make and looks all fancy-like if you're bored like I was when I made it. It's basically baked butterflied chicken breast with chicken/steak rub and some pepper with whole grain rice (about 1 1/2 cups) with Worcestershire sauce with baked fries (not many) and cherry sauce garnish but it's all dressed up and looks like something you'd have to spend 13$ on in a restaurant for the picky eater sibling you have. It tastes best when you eat it with either a cup of milk or cream soda drink-wise.

Lastly,

MUFFINS!!1!!!ONES

I fucking love muffins.

I was in the grocery store picking up some random things for dinner and saw that rainbow cake mix was on sale for two bucks. Hell, yes. Two bucks. Of course I picked up a box and realized I didn't have a good cake pan but I had an old muffin pan. This was after Christmas and I had realized I didn't get my roommates anything for Christmas so I went nuts and also picked up strawberries and icing and chopped almond slices. Yeeeeeeeeees.

Alright, so I had all the mix in and did all the mixing and combining and stuff only to realize I had no muffin wrappers. It's like minus 30-something outside and there was no way I was leaving the house to pick any up in that nonsense so I just made the muffins without 'em.

I caramelized some strawberries and filled about 1/4 or 1/2 of each muffin container and stuck a caramelized half strawberry in it and filled the rest about to 2/3 or to the very top with mix because I'm a total risk taker and hucked it in the oven and hoped it wouldn't wreck my landlords stove.

This is the half way point of these muffins.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang.

This is the point where I'm thinking FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

I patiently paced in my kitchen for the remainder of the time hoping I didn't have to fix this 800$ stove.

NOPE. NO FIXIN' FOR THIS LADY!

These muffins turned out amazing, the strawberries made them a little harder to take out of the muffin sheet because a few had sunk as they cooked to the bottom and almost got stuck to the container but I managed to get them to cooperate. I decorated 'em with vanilla icing + sweetened coconut flakes with almond pieces. At this point the seventeen year old girl who lives upstairs walked in the door and was essentially drooling at the coconutty-strawberry smell that was throughout my house. I gave 'er one and she said something along the lines of

THESE ARE SO AWESOME!!!!111!!! I LOVE WHEN YOU BUY GROCERIES!!1

I made a different dish the other night but I forgot to take a picture, It was linguini with chopped carrots, diced chicken, cream of broccoli, alfredo sauce with parsley, thyme, pepper, paprika (very little) with a thin layer of shredded mozza cheese on top. Bake at 350 for about 15 for the cheese on top to melt and for the cream of broccoli to heat up a little and BAM. DONE. Add crackers if you have them but it isn't a requirment, just ensure you don't add too many or it will taste too crunchy and salty after it bakes.

I'll try to update this more consistently, I might do up a review on a movie and go on a philosophical rant or something in the near future.

Cheers!
